Château Prieuré-Lichine, originally Château Cantenac-Prieuré is a winery in the Margaux appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. The wine produced here was classified as one of ten Quatrièmes Crus (Fourth Growths) in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.

In 1951, the estate was purchased by the late wine writer and authority Alexis Lichine. At the same time, Lichine and a syndicate purchased the Second Growth Margaux estate Château Lascombes, The estate is currently owned by the Ballande corporation.

[edit] Vineyard and wines

Its vineyards consist of about 170 acres planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (52 percent), Merlot (31 percent), Cabernet Franc (12 percent) and Petit Verdot (5 percent). After fermenting in concrete and stainless steel vats, the wine is aged for 18-24 months in 50 percent new oak barrels. A second wine is produced under the label Le Cloitre de Prieure-Lichine. The Chateau employs Stéphane Derenoncourt as its consulting enologist. [1]
