[edit] Band history

Chastisement decided to become a "serious" band in 1995, but they didn't record and release a demo until '97. The original members were Marcus Edvardsson and Fredrik Magnusson (both guitarists). With some member changes, Magnusson was replaced by Tommy Larsson, but not before he recommended Nils Fjellström for the vacant drummer slot. Nicklas Linnes and Johan Klitkou round out the current line-up.

When vocalist Johan Klitkou was asked about the line-up in a 2004 interview with The Metal Observer, Klitkou stated: "CHASTISEMENT was started by Marcus and he quickly recruited Nils and later on I and Tommy joined, I think everything has been running smoothly so far, both albums have gotten good reviews and we are eager for the big break through, that would be awesome to come out and play world wide to a broad audience and spread the word of CHASTISEMENT."

[edit] Trivia

  • Since parting ways with the Rage Of Achilles record label, the album Alleviation of Pain (and other audio files) can be downloaded from their official website.
  • Vocalist Johan Klitkou says that he listens to Björk.
  • The band received the idea for the song "Tsavo - The Land Of Slaughter," by watching a show about Kenya's national-park (Tsavo). The show featured animals attacking each other and the band thought that this behavior also applied to human beings.
