Chashme Shahi is one of the famous Mughal gardens of Kashmir. The place originally derives its name from the spring which is supposed to be discovered by the great poetess of Kashmir, Lalladed. The family name of Lalladed was 'Shaheb' and the spring was originally called 'Chashme Saheb'. Over the years the name got corrupted and today the place is known as Chashme Shahi (the Royal Spring).

Situated close to Rajbhawan (Governor House), the garden is situated at the foothills of Zabarwan range.
