Founded in 1970, Charlotte Latin School is an independent, non-sectarian, coeducational, college-preparatory, day school serving 1370 students in transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade. Charlotte Latin welcomes students and families of all races, colors, religions, and national origins.
The school's mission is to encourage individual development and civility in their students by inspiring them to learn, by encouraging them to serve others, and through leadership opportunities. The school also possesses the world's largest bronze hawk statue. The school state champions have been in football, lacrosse, volleyball, badminton, dance team, and swimming in the NCISAA.[citation needed]
