Charlie Wilson's War is a 2007 drama film about Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson, who conspired with a rogue CIA operative named Gust Avrakotos to launch an operation to help the Afghan Mujahideen during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. It is based on a 2003 book of the same title by George Crile. Starring Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Phillip Seymour Hoffman
On January 18, 2007, a 34-year-old special-effects assistant suffered head and facial injuries when a hand-held mortar exploded while being tested on the set for the film.[1]
