Charlie McCarthy (socialist)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charlie McCarthy is joint health spokesperson of the Scottish Socialist Party. He works as a nurse, and he was an SSP candidate in a number of elections, including the Scottish parliamentary election of 1999 when he was the candidate in Glasgow Govan, and the Glasgow Anniesland by-elections, 2000.

In August 2006 he distributed to a number of newspapers an account of a meeting he had with Tommy Sheridan where Sheridan made a number of comments about his personal life at variance with the evidence he gave in his recent court case, Sheridan v News International. (See the full text of the letter.) A number of other activists also came forward to confirm that Sheridan had held similar meetings with them, in particular admitting that he had affairs and attended sex clubs.[1].
