[edit] History

Born in Seacouver in 1956 to a Black mother and an Italian father, Charlie faced life as both as a bi-racial and under-privileged person. He grew up in an area of the city known as "The Zone". In 1977, Charlie joined the Navy and became a Navy Seal, and his military career lasted 12 years. After his career in the Navy ended, he opened DeSalvo Martial Arts, where he met Duncan MacLeod. Later, in 1992, because of financial difficulties, he sold the dojo to MacLeod, though he stayed on as manager. His friendship with Duncan grew, and though Duncan never told him he was an Immortal, Charlie knew he kept a secret. He also befriended Richie Ryan and Joe Dawson. With MacLeod, he seemed to get always in trouble, mostly related to Immortals, although Duncan tried to keep him in the dark as most as possible. One day, when Duncan went to face Immortal Xavier St. Cloud, Charlie followed him and saw him get mortally shot by Xavier's partner James Horton. Horton also shot Charlie and, when he woke up, Duncan was very much alive at his side. Charlie asked him how was it that Duncan had survived when Charlie was close to dying. Duncan told him that he was going to survive and that one day he would reveal the truth about himself before Charlie died. In late 1994, he fell in love with Balkan revolutionary Mara Leonin, and he traveled with her to her homeland to help her in her quest to free her people. The following year, they were set up by Immortal arms dealer Andrew Cord, who sold them defective weapons. When confronted by Mara, he shot her and later tried to kill Charlie, but failed. Charlie followed him to the States to kill him. Ignoring Duncan's and Joe's (who was a friend of Cord's) warnings, Charlie was mortally wounded by Cord. Before Charlie died, Duncan kept his promise and revealed his true nature. Later, he fought and beheaded Cord.
