Charley King

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charley King was a candidate for Member of the Canadian Parliament in Port Moody—Westwood—Port Coquitlam for the NDP, Canada's social democratic party, in the 2004 federal election.

King quickly earned the reputation of a party maverick. His campaign focused on a tough law and order agenda, fiscal responsibility and local representation, and he made news for disagreeing with his party on its plan for an inheritance tax. His feisty campaign and populist appeal caught on with voters, as he garnered 27% of the vote, tripling the NDP's previous result in the riding. King is a moderate centrist in the BC NDP.
