Charles Stuart (politician)

Charles Allan Stuart was a lawyer, politician and Judge from Alberta, Canada.
Charles ran for the first time and was defeated by future Prime Minister Richard Bennett in a by-election for West Calgary for the Legislative Assembly of Northwest Territories on March 22, 1901.
Charles Stuart was elected for the Alberta Liberal Party to the electoral district of Gliechen in the provinces first general election in 1905.
On January 2, 1905 Charles won a seat on Calgary city council serving as alderman, he would serve for exactly one year.
He was appointed to serve as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Alberta in 1906 and vacated his legislature seat.
He served as the first Chancellor of the University of Alberta Senate from 1908 to 1926
