Charles Schild

Charles Schild (1902-1980) was an original American inventor. Although many of his inventions were never patented, he did have two patents in widely different fields. U. S. Patent number 1995946 is in the automotive area, while U. S. Patent number 3764138 is in the arena of games.

Throughout his life he continued to invent and develop mechanical devices that enabled people to enjoy and facilitate an easier life. Two such inventions exemplify these goals:

1. A hand operated 4-wheel cart for a young man who was paralyzed from the waist down, and
2. A machine which allowed very gentle massage of petroleum jelly on burn victums with major portions of their bodies affected.

Among his inventions were an early version of what now is the spinning reel for fishing and a guitar which could play cords.

Above all was his gentle manner and his love of family.
