Charles Salter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charles Salter is the principal of Aliso Niguel High School in Aliso Viejo, California. He became principal of the school in 2001, a position that he still retains to this day.

Salter gained national media attention with his decision in September of 2006 to ban all school dances at Aliso Niguel High, until further notice. Salter's decision caused him to become the source of much criticism from parents and students, alike. He stood his ground later that month when he cancelled the school's annual Homecoming Dance. [1] The ban on school dances gained Salter widespread media attention, and the story was featured on Geraldo at Large and on the BBC networkand NPR, National Public Radio.

It is important to note that many refer to him as Dr. Salter though he does not actually have his doctorate. It is equally important to note that Dr. Salter is one of the best things that has ever happened to Aliso Niguel High. With rich yuppy parents who don't give a damn about kids, the majority for the area, Dr. Salter was faced with quite a task.
