Charles McGuinness

Charles 'Nomad' McGuinness, from Londonderry / Derry City, Co. Derry, Ireland was an adventurer and sailor. Bowyer Bell (1970, 221), in his account of the histroy of the Irish Republican Army describes him as 'cloaked in legends: he had been Harbour Master in Leningrad after the Revolution, served in the International Brigade in Spain, and even been president of a Latin American Country', and was recruited as part of an effort by the IRA to smuggle an escaed German agent, Gunther Schuetz, out of Ireland in 1942.
