Sir Charles George Arbuthnot, KCB (19 May 1824, Killaloe, Ireland - 14 April 1899) was a Lieutenant General in the British Royal Artillery.

In 1886, Arbuthnot was appointed Commander-in-chief of the Madras Army, the army of the Madras Presidency and one of the three major armies that constituted the bulk of Imperial forces in India. He served as senior military adviser for the Madras Presidency until 1890.

Arbuthnot was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB); he had previously been appointed a CB. He was a twin, son of Rt Rev Alexander Arbuthnot, brother of Sir Alexander John Arbuthnot and half brother of General George Bingham Arbuthnot.

He married, October 27 1868, Caroline Charlotte Clarke (born Barbados, West Indies 1845-51, died 1909), daughter of Dr William Clarke, MD of Barbados. They had issue Brigadier general Alexander George Arbuthnot and others.
