Charles C. Stevenson

Charles Clark Stevenson (February 20, 1826-September 21, 1890) was a Governor of Nevada. He was a Republican.
Stevenson was born in Phelps, New York in 1826. In 1859 he came to Nevada, where he worked in mining, milling, and agriculture. He was later elected to Nevada State Senate representing Storey County. He served three terms in the Senate. Later he was elected Regent of the University of Nevada, serving 11 years.
Stevenson was elected Governor in 1886, however he died in office on September 21, 1890 in Carson City, Nevada. He is buried at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, California.
