This is a list of characters from the sprite-based webcomic Bob and George.

Contents

[edit] Primary Characters

[edit] Mega Man

Also known as: Rock, Rock Man

The main character in the video games, and one of the most important characters in Bob and George. He was originally created by Dr. Light. While Mega Man is capable of stunning tactics when fighting Dr. Wily's robots, most of the times he is an idiot. He was one ever since he was created (when Dr. Light told him his purpose, it simply went over his head), although he was reprogrammed by Dr. Wily shortly after to be even more idiotic briefly before Dr. Light managed to fix him somewhat. His primary mission is "to destroy the evil robots and stop Dr. Wily"; his secondary mission is to be an idiot. He has a Bob-like program inside his head named Vic that sells him highly concentrated evil juice. He is also one of the original members of the Ice Cream Clan.

[edit] Proto Man

Also known as: Blues, Break Man

Created by Dr. Light as a prototype design, and thus Mega Man's older brother, Proto Man is possibly the most strategic fighter of the cast. Proto Man was initially created to be Dr. Light's butler, his arm cannon and shield having been installed in case Cut Man, the gardener, went berserk. Proto Man left shortly thereafter to fight crime.

During the re-enactment of the first Mega Man game, he accidentally killed Dr. Light when Light tried to take Proto Man's arm cannon; Dr. Light was subsequently revived by the Author. In the past he has been in the employ of Dr. Wily in order to spy on him. Also Roll and him are one of the few ones to go in the training room. (aka Danger Room)

It has been revealed that Proto Man will survive the Cataclysm, and will be rebuilt as a robot named Prometheus. As Prometheus, he looks like Zero with Proto Man's head and scarf. Along with X and Auto, he is one of only three of Dr. Light's creations to survive the Cataclysm.

[edit] The Author

Also known as: Dave, He Who Lives Above the Panels, Purple Floating Alien

The Author is the creator of the comic and the Bob and George universe. He is nearly omnipotent. The Author occasionally shows up to help the characters out, be it through some helpful advice, sending characters through time to their proper time period, or reviving dead characters. Although he is powerful, many of the characters do not like him.

The Author appears as a brown-haired purple-and-blue palette swap of Mega Man without his helmet.

[edit] George

Also known as: Blitz, The Ultimate Lord of the Ice Cream Clan

Older brother of Bob, George is a superhero from another dimension with the ability to control lightning; in recent storylines, he's had to use that power extensively, causing him to comment that his only remaining weakness is his crippling lack of self-esteem. George generally gets along with most of the characters in the comic and loves ice cream, even so much as to declare himself "The Ultimate Lord of the Ice Cream Clan". As a title character, he is generally immune to death, and has been saved more than once by a convenient plot device. By trade he is -- or was, before he became trapped in the Mega Man universe -- an electrical engineer. George has the ability to fuse with Chadling to create a form called Charge, which they used to defeat Non-Alternate Mynd (according to Charge, it's pretty nice, except for the doubly-intense ice cream cravings). As a human, George wasn't automatically gifted with the ability to fuse with Demons; it developed after he inhaled a significant portion of vaporized Chadling and Chadling's protoplasm combined with George's cells. He lost an eye because of Dr. Light, and had it replaced with a bionic copy. George tends to get into lots of trouble through time, which is usually solved with a random plot device. George is often found eating ice cream with Chadling, and gets depressed when Chadling isn't around to eat ice cream with. He hates both time travel and hanging from ceilings with a passion, and fears his mother.

George appears as a blonde-haired blue-and-gray palette swap of Mega Man without his helmet. When using his powers, his hair seems to spike up, which the Helemeted Author noted made him look like a Super Saiyan.

[edit] Bob

Also known as: Napalm, The Greatest Programmer in the World

George's younger brother, and a supervillain from another dimension with the ability to create and manipulate fire. An expert programmer who used to work for Microsoft. Trapped in the Mega Man Universe, Bob is frequently shown trying to get back to his home dimension. He inadvertently helped cause the Cataclysm in the Rockman Universe. In the fifth Mega Man game Bob took over Dr. Wily's role in using Robot Masters to take over the world. Following the events of that game, Bob was stuck in a subspace rift. He was brought back to the Mega Man Universe by Dr. Wily, who sent him back to the time of the sixth Mega Man game. Because he programmed Zero for Wily he was partly responsible for the cataclysm. He does a back flip to get up, and has a plasma rifle (though it still looks like a buster) that has incredible power. He is terrified of Pokemon and his alternate gay self.

Bob appears as a red-haired gray palette swap of Proto Man.

[edit] Secondary Characters

[edit] Bass

Also known as: Forte, Bass

Quote: "Hey Mega Man. Wanna go do something stupid?"

Bass is a robot created by Dr. Wily to be a copy of Mega Man. He was designed to be more powerful and more stupid than Mega Man. Bass tends to hang around with Mega Man and Chadling. He has no taste receptors, as Dr. Wily felt them unnecessary. In the 6th megaman game There was a Bass that was either the Bass we know today, or possibly a prototype, as he is referred to as "Bass Man".

[edit] Mike

Also known as: Ninja Ned

From the same dimension as Mynd, Mike is a ninja and Mynd's former minion. During the battle with Mynd, Mike fell off a cliff and was presumed dead When he was fighting Roll. However, he managed to survive the fall, and was rescued months later from the bottom of the cliff by Bass and Mega Man. In order to save him, Mike was repaired using cybernetics by Dr. Light, and now has cybernetic limbs. He had been cut in twain by the Helmeted Author. Mike is now being hunted by Evil Overlord Mike, AKA Edward the Destroyer, who doesn't like the fact that there exists of another Mike. He works as the interviewer for the yearly parties and BnG News.

Mike appears as a red-and-gray palette swap of Mega Man with Proto Man's shield.

[edit] X

Robot created by Dr. Light. In the present, X has recently been activated by Dr. Light and has had a hard time adapting to the situation around him. X assimilated all the other characters before being defeated by George. At some point, X will be put into stasis by Dr. Light to undergo 30 years of testing. One hundred years in the future X will be reactivated by Dr. Cain, and become a powerful Maverick Hunter. Friends and partners with Zero. Has faced and defeated Sigma on multiple occasions. His weapon of choice is the Mega-Buster Mark 17, also known as the 'X-Buster', the most powerful (and stable) weapon of the age. Bob, under the orders of Shadowy Author, erased X's memories of assimilating people, in exchange of memories of X playing pranks on everyone.

[edit] Zero

In the present, Zero is still uncompleted in Dr. Wily's Lab. His activation is what ends up causing the Cataclysm in the Bob and George Universe, wherein he kills most of Dr. Light's robots, as well as the good doctor himself. One hundred years in the future, Zero is reactivated, and after being defeated by Sigma becomes good. A friend and partner of X, Zero is one of the most deadly Maverick Hunters. His weapon of choice is the Z-Saber, a powerful laser sword. His programing was made by Bob.

[edit] Dr. Thomas Light

A genius scientist, Dr. Light created many of the robots in Bob and George. Dr. Light is the foremost authority on artificial intelligence and robotics. Used to be partners with Dr. Wily before Wily revealed his evil plans. Although a genius when it comes to designing robots, Dr. Light can be incredibly stupid at times. Alcoholic.

[edit] Roll

Roll has shown a violent streak, and uses a battle suit and is a competent and aggressive fighter. Roll is often seen accompanying Proto Man and is shown as a yellow and red recolor of MegaMan with Protoman's helmet and modified hair from a 16-bit Zero sprite.

[edit] Nate

Also known as: N4-T3

Nate originally appeared as a Yellow Demon who tried to destroy Mega Man. After being defeated, Dr. Light reprogrammed Nate to be good. Incapable of speaking, Nate usually communicates using signs.

Nate is capable of "merging" with other robots to increase their power. Characters who have merged in the past include Bass, the Helmeted Author, and Proto Man.

Nate usually appears as either a yellow palette swap of Mega Man with glasses, or as a giant Yellow Demon with glasses. When merged, they both appear as the merged character's head placed on the body of a Robot Master sprite (usually a Guts Man sprite, but Proto Man's merged form uses Napalm Man's sprite). Proto Man prefers to use Nate with fighting an enemy. His design name, N4-T3, is the l33t version of Nate.

[edit] Chadling

Also known as: C1-14D-L1N6

Also originally an evil foe, this Purple Demon was a minion of Mynd before he realized the error of his ways and switched teams. He is definitely a danger to all who threaten him, as he is an extremely powerful opponent. He can either attack foes with in his real form (that of a large purple demon) or his smaller clawed form. Loves ice cream. He is often found eating ice cream with George, and gets depressed when George isn't around to eat ice cream with.

Chadling displayed the ability to fuse with George to create Charge when Dr. Light's lab was under attack from Non-Alternate Mynd.

[edit] Ran Cossack

Ran (right) standing next to his corpse after being poked by George (left)

Also known as: Ran[afk], The Commie-Bot

Quote: "You can kill me, but you can't stop me!"

Ran was initially created by Dr. Cossack's daughter Kalinka as a last-minute science fair project. Built with cheap Communist parts, he is very fragile and can be broken with a mere touch. He was built this way because of Kalinka's unshakable devotion to Communism, and her belief that efficient construction with good quality, imported materials is too capitalistic. However, whenever he is broken, a copy teleports to his previous location. This often leads to Ran standing next to his own corpse. His weapon of choice is the Cossack Buster, a weapon designed by the Future Alternates to be even more powerful than the X-Buster, but has powerful recoil which usually results in his death. If thrown at a target while wielding the Buster, Ran tends to explode, obliterating the localized area. This battle tactic is known as using 'Ran-bombs'. Ran is an original character created by the Bob and George forum member of the same name. There was also a Ran MK II created specifically for the tournament. This Ran was more powerful, seemingly stupider, and extremely durable, an improvement on Ran in almost every way. Except for the fact that he was vulnerable to the one thing ran wasn't, Ran corpses.

[edit] Alternate Mega Man and Bass

Also known as: The Alternates, The Present Alternates, The Future Alternates, The Far Future Alternates

The Alternates are versions of Mega Man and Bass from a parallel dimension. Unlike their Mega Man Universe counterparts, the Alternates are incredibly intelligent, and discuss scientific topics for fun. The Future Alternates are versions of the Alternates from the future, who have developed the means to travel through time. The Far Future Alternates are versions of the Alternates from even further in the future. The future versions of the Alternates enjoy going back in time and watching their previous counterparts suffer. This quickly causes mind-splitting confusion on the part of George.

The Future Alternates gave Bob the ability to travel to different dimensions. In order to remove that ability, they inadvertently helped cause the Cataclysm in the Rockman Universe. The next time they tried to remove Bob's time travel ability, they and their present selves played instrumental roles in Mega Man 5. First, they upgraded Ran's blaster, then the Present Alternates infiltrated Bob's fortress and defeated him while the Future Alternates helped fight against the army of Robot Masters. The also ended up being friends with a Metool ally named Metool-D2

[edit] The Villains

[edit] Dr. Wily

Former partner of Dr. Light, and master at robotics. Has attempted to take over the world numerous times. Created most of the Robot Masters, Forte and Treble, Zero, and the Wily Beer Company. His fortresses often end up being destroyed; this has happened at the end of each Mega Man game, as well as once in the present. He has recently been shown in the comic as the Sigma Viruses form in Sigmas brain, before George got really pissed off and blew up sigmas head.

[edit] Mynd

Also known as: That Sigma Wannabe

Villain from another universe who attempted to take over the Mega Man Universe. Mike and Chadling are his minions. He was defeated by the combined forces of Bob and George. Fights using a beam saber. He is currently leading an army of ninjas under Bob's orders.

Mynd appears as a gray-and-purple palette swap of a shortened Sigma.

[edit] Non-Alternate Mynd

Also known as: That Other Sigma Wannabe

This is the version of Mynd that is from the Mega Man universe. Minion of Evil Overlord Mike. Tried to kill Mike, but defeated by Charge, a fusion of George and Chadling. Is currently limbless, and held prisoner in Dr. Light's dungeon. Fights using two beam sabers.

[edit] The Helmeted Author

Also known as: Helmut, Fistandantilus, "Uncle Fisty"

An evil Author from another dimension who tried to take over the Bob and George Universe. His helmet, which The Author made him wear, restricts his powers. The Author defeated him in less than a minute and banished him to the white space beneath the blurb. Appears in numerous Helmeted Author Quips, a section on the main page below the comic. However, he has since apparently escaped from that space.

Before the Helmeted Author appeared, another Helmeted Author made an appearance during the "Attack of Mega Man" storyline. In this appearance, Bass and Nate merge their bodies into a single form, which Bass calls "Bate". When he speaks to Mega Man that he will know Bate as "Master", Mega Man replies "Master-Bate???", which prompts the Helmeted Author to appear and apply a drum roll. It's later revealed that the real Author put on the helmet, went back in time, and performed the drumroll, thus sealing up his own plothole.

The Helmeted Author appears similar to the author, but wearing a helmet. When the helmet is removed, he appears as a gray Mega Man recolor with long, dark gray hair. Protoman said he looks like a Sephiroth clone/knock-off.

[edit] Other characters

[edit] Mega Man Universe Characters

  • Rush - Mega Man's robotic dog and trusted sidekick, Rush has played minimal parts in some storylines. Rush was given the ability to speak by Mega Man after he became intelligent, but not many characters are aware of this.
  • Treble - Bass' robotic wolf, who has appeared on several occasions.
  • Tango - A green feline robot that is the object of Rush and Treble's frustration.
  • Metool-D2 - A Metoru (Metal / Hard Hat), classic Mega Man series enemy. He helped Bass defeat Bob during the fifth Mega Man game storyline, and then was transported to the alternate dimension of the Alternates.
  • Circus - An elephantine robot that Dr. Light can combine with to turn himself into a powerful fighting machine. The sprite for this character is based on that of Flame Mammoth, a Maverick from Mega Man X.
  • Top Man - A robot master from the third Mega Man game with the ability to spin rapidly. However, he is most famous for his flamboyantly gay personality. He argues with Mega Man about gay rights, and has made several appearances since. It is believed that he has a relationship with Alternate Bob, which creeps regular Bob out.
  • Shadow Man - A robot master with the ability of extreme stealth and confusing sayings. He has been popularized because on July 12, 2002, Shadow Man said "And now, I disappear into the background until I become a useful plot device again." This has caused many fans to speculate that Shadow Man will return as a villain, and that he is the one behind all the villains in the comic. In a recent appearance, however, he said that he will not be a major character because his sprite "sucks worse than a seven fingered cat in a room filled with clock radios."
  • Napalm Man - A fire-based robot master built by Dr. Wily's machines, but programmed by Bob, causing him to lack any significant personality quirks except for "loving the smell of napalm in the morning." His competence was almost the death of Mega Man in the altered history of Mega Man 5, but the arrival of the Present and Future Alternate versions of Mega Man and Bass caused him to be sucked into a temporal phenomenon, which caused him to be teleported to the future of the Alternate Universe. Though his current fate is unknown, it is likely he is living peacefully with the Future Alternates and Metool-D2. However, it was seen in this strip during the tournament that the Napalm Man sent to attempt to stall the Vic-controlled Megaman was a 'future alternate' Napalm Man, so possibly he has been destroyed.
  • Charge Man - Aside from Star Man, the only robot master from Megaman 5 both built and programmed by Dr. Wily, and the only one programmed without competence. Wielding the power of extreme speed, he actually never took direct part in the events of the game, except for being impersonated by Shadow Man who was being impersonated by Future Alternate Bass and Metool-D2 in order to rescue Megaman from Stone Man and Wave Man, and a brief meeting with FA Bass in which he sold him his weapon power for a dollar. It is not clear what became of Charge Man, but the only fates that could have reasonably befell him were being destroyed along with Wily's fortress by Bob, or escaping to live at large in the Megaman Universe. He was later seen in the Robot tournament being defeated by Tomahawk Man using a Native American coin. Whether he will return or his fate will be confirmed at all remains to be seen.

[edit] Alternate Mega Man Universe Characters

  • Alternate Proto Man - A stupid robot. Usually gets his shield stuck to the ceiling somehow.
  • Alternate Bob - A non-homicidal, homosexual, effeminate person. Friend of Top Man in Mega Man III. Acted as Dr. Wily's redecorator in Mega Man V. He was also the reporter at the Fifth Party.
  • Alternate George - Killed the alternate versions of Dr. Light, Dr. Wily, and Roll. When asked by the real Bob why he didn't "just kill everyone", Alternate George replied, "Because they fought back" Has had his eyes pecked out by Alternate Beat.
  • Alternate Beat - Alternate version of Beat. Pecked out the eyes of Alternate George.

[edit] Rockman Universe Characters

  • Rockman - The Mega Man from the Rockman Universe. Unlike Mega Man, he is intelligent.
  • Roll - Rockman's kind housekeeping sister.
  • Dr. Right - The Dr. Light of the Rockman Universe. A kind scientist whose Elmer Fudd-style accent (L's and R's are replaced by W's) was inspired by the American voice acting of Mega Man 8.
  • Dr. Wily - A competent evil scientist.
  • Forte - An intelligent, evil robot created by Dr. Wily.
  • The Shadowy Author or 'Shador' - The Author of the Rockman universe; little is known about the character. When George first met him, he thought Shador was his mother, who appeared as a giant round shadow.
  • Sniper Jed - A Sniper droid who Bob spent some time torturing, simply because he dislikes people named Jed.

[edit] Hand-Drawn Universe Characters

  • Bob and George's Mother - Mother of Bob and George. It has been revealed that she is a goddess, making her the source of Bob and George's powers. Her appearance depends on who is viewing her. To George, she appears as a red-eyed amorphus black blob due to his extreme fear of her.
  • Ted - A newly-introduced character, Ted is a fellow superhero and friend of George. He is depicted as a black man, taller than George, with short, curly hair, a white tank top with a cyan "crossed circle no" symbol on it, white and cyan superhero tights, and a cyan visor resembling that of Cyclops. A recent comic has revealed his power to be ice-based, concentrated into unidirectional blasts from his visor that can freeze people and items upon contact, similar to Sub-Zero. Coincidentally, that is his Alias.
  • Scott Winters - A new character, he appears to be the leader of the super-heroes in George's past. His ability is to shoot lasers from his eyes, similar to Cyclops. His alias is Plasma, and he wears an outfit similar to George's and Ted's, except orange and yellow.
  • Psyche - A new character with powers similar to those of Psylocke. She apparently isn't a good superhero, but is kept around because she's really hot and her breasts accidentally pop out of her top every now and then.

[edit] Bob and George Community Characters

  • Liss - The Author's wife who used to have her own subcomic, "The Adventures of Super Ho", on the site, which has recently ended. Her character occasionally appears at parties, and has recently been recruited by the super-heroes in Georges past to fight Bob's ninja horde.
  • Mini-Dave/The Poké-Author - Mini-Dave is a miniaturized version of Dave. In the tradition of Pokémon, the only thing he can say is his name.
  • Mini-Rick - Similar to Mini-Dave, a minituraized version of fancomic author Rick O'Shay. Like Mini-Dave, the only thing he can say is his name.
  • Freakadave - An Author duplicate, dressed in the style of Freakazoid!. He is the star of 4 short animations on the subcomic page, which have no relation to the main storyline. One of these animations was parodied by the sprite comic My Brain Hurts.
  • Random - A blue Ran recolor who only lived for two comics. He offered to help Bass stop the rampageing Gamma, and Bass threw him at Gamma, and proved him having the same explosive propities as Ran, but not regeneration (as far as is known now).
