David Lefavor has been a Chaplain for over 33 years, having served in the Navy, and now in the Veterans Administration for over 14 years.
Current Assignment: Chaplain to the James A Haley Veterans Hospital VA Polytrauma Unit.
Chaplain David Lefavor took the lead in the immediate development and implementation of patient and family support programs for the injured Active Duty Military and their families. Among the many programs that he started, he is responsible for the development of a program called “Operation Helping Hand”, which has won the Fisher Foundation’s Newmans Own Award, for 2 years in a row, presented by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace. Chaplain Lefavor has also been recognized by many organizations for his outstanding work at the James A Haley VA Hospital with the Injured Active Duty and their families. Last year, he received the VA’s “Best Practice” award presented by the Director of the Veterans Administration. Recently, he was awarded the Four Chaplain’s Foundation Legion of Honor Award.
