Chapar is a small town of Dhubri District, Assam, India, with a lot of harmony among the people. It is the hometown of one of the former Chief Ministers of Assam, Mr Sharat Singha.

Chapar is the first Mail Delivery Service known to the history and Persian Empire hundred years B.C. But there no link found between these two names. In assam chapar means short or less height.

Chapar is located at 26.27° N 90.47° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 22 metres (72 feet). As flood is very common problem to Assam, so it is same to Chapar also. It is situated on the bank of the Champabati river. NH-31 passes through Chapar.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Chapar had a population of 18,559. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Chapar has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 71% and female literacy of 58%. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The town has main two tower for High School and college education, Chapar Higher Secondary School and Ratnapeeth College.
