Chaney High School is one of three traditional public high schools in the city of Youngstown, Ohio. It is a part of the Youngstown City Schools system.

Chaney's athletic teams are known as the Cowboys (Cowgirls for girls sports). For boys, they sponsor baseball, basketball, bowling, football, swimming, and track. For girls, they offer basketball, bowling, cheerleading, softball, volleyball, and track.

Undoubtedly, the Cowboys football team is among the most famous in Ohio. Although they've never won a state title (their best finish was a loss in the Division-III state championship game in 1997), they have gone on to produce several college and NFL standouts, such as former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL MVP Frank Sinkwich, Jerry Olsalvsky, Michael Zordich, Matt Cavanaugh, Anthony Floyd and current New York Jets player Brad Smith.

They have also won more city titles than any other school, though in future seasons they will be unable to compete for this honor, as the Youngstown City Series will dissolve following the 2006-2007 school year. Chaney will move to the Steel Valley Conference in 2007, along with the new Youngstown East High School.
