Chadwick (band)

Chadwick is an underground death rock band from San Francisco, California, United States.

[edit] About

The band started out as a stoner group in 2002. The barroom band was known for excessive volume, samples, effects, feedback driven melodies, and increasingly drunken live shows. The band frequently played the clubs in the North Bay. They originally called themselves Stonypoint for the obvious drug reference as well as a more obscure reference to a boulevard in Santa Rosa, California of the same name.

Trouble began appropriately enough on Halloween of 2002 when the band showed up to play a large concert hall in Sonoma county only to realise that they had been booked under a case of mistaken identity. An extremely popular local Jerry Garcia tribute band used the same name. The booking agent was furious and took his rage out on the band. Angered themselves, the band took the stage and treated the audience to a badly mangled version of Truckin'. The Northern California crowd did not take well to the desecration of the legendary Jerry Garcia's Grateful Dead song. Thereafter, their reputation ruined, the band could only find gigs in the seediest of dive bars. And so, in large part to dodge their ill repute, they elected to change their name to reflect their singer/songwriter: Chadwick.

The band grew ever noisier, preaching doom and gloom even as they held onto their guitar heavy psychedelic influences. The band is often referred to as the suicide band or Chadwick and the suicide band and has gained a small cult following in the San Francisco Goth scene.
