Chadkirk

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The surname Chadkirk is very rare. It derives from a location Chad's Kirk. St Chad was a 9th century Northumbrian (north-east England) christian martyr and kirk is an old saxon word for church. There is only one remaining hamlet called Chadkirk, just south of Manchester and near Stockport in England[1]. The earliest evidence of anyone bearing the surname is William de Chaddekyrke in the 13th century who was given to celdas or market stalls in Macclesfield.
