It is very surprising to note that your very first edit is to my talkpage. I have a confession to make, and it is probably the first time that I am making it. Adminship is actually just a different way to serve the community. As my userpage indicates, I was (and still am) keen on creating unrepresented articles. That is one way of serving the community. Another way of serving the community is to maintain the integrity of the project, which is probably best achieved through adminship. However, after becoming an admin, my first goal seems to have suffered as I seem to be more into the maintenance mode. Still, I have no regrets as I feel that I applied for adminship only after reaching some of my goals as an editor. As for your question about my becoming an admin by posting a lot of edits, I do not think that it was a significant reason. In fact, my edits over a period of seven months (four months if I consider my most active period) before adminship were only around 3000, while after becoming an admin (hardly 2 months), my edits were increased by some 3000+ edits. btw, I typically create even very large articles in 3 to 4 edits - the same, if created by another editor may take around 10 edits. This is because I use an off-line editor such as Microsoft Word and use Show preview button more often - I do not want to give any one a wrong impression that it was my edit count that helped me in becoming an admin. In fact my edits per article before adminship were ~2 per unique page; now that statistic is more in the region of 1.7. My goal here was (and is) to build a better encyclopedia. Adminship is only incidental to the role. I do wish that every editor views it the same. I believe that you would get a lot of insights by reading WP:NOT and WP:ANOT. btw, you may not understand several terms here and it may take some time to sink in. You may want to disregard this latter part of my message and concentrate on building the best encyclopedia in the world. Once again, Welcome!! --Gurubrahma 16:45, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
