Châtelaine

Châtelaine is a women's monthly magazine in Quebec, published by Rogers Media Publishing (a subsidiary of Rogers Communications). Its motto is moi, la vie, le monde (me, life, the world.) It was first published in March 1928 by Maclean Publishing. An English language version exists also under the title of Chatelaine, notably without the circumflex accent.
The magazine covers a variety of women's interests, from fashion and relationships to health information, profiles of successful women and journalism on social and political issues particularly relevant to women.
From 1957 to 1977, the magazine's editor was Doris Anderson, under whose tenure Châtelaine was a leader in Canadian coverage of women's issues and the rise of feminism as a social phenomenon.
The magazine is also the subject of k.d. lang's song "Miss Châtelaine"; the famous line "I can't explain why I've become Miss Chatelaine" expresses lang's surprise at having been selected as the magazine's Woman of the Year in 1988.
In late 2005, editor-in-chief Kim Pittaway resigned from her post as editor after a brief tenure of 11 months. In 2006, Sara Angel was named Editor of Chatelaine.
