Château Pedesclaux

Château Pedesclaux is a winery in the Pauillac appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. The wine produced here was classified as one of eighteen Cinquièmes Crus (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
The château was founded in 1810 by Urbain Pierre Pedesclaux, who operated it with his wife until 1891, when the estate was sold to the Count de Gastebois. In 1930, Lucien Jugla became tenant, and eventually purchased the château in 1950. The estate remains in the Jugla family today.
The vineyard covers an area of 28 hectares and produces about 8,000 cases of wine every year. Wines from Pedesclaux are composed of roughly 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet franc.
