All search results on Google use an acute accent [1], as does today's Guardian. ed g2s • talk 15:48, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Spanish spelling uses Fábregas, Catalan spelling uses Fàbregas. For NPOV reasons I suggest using an unaccented version for the article name. Qwghlm 11:04, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

• Oppose : The name Fabregas without the accent would be false too. So, why not try to ask him directly which spelling he uses himself? I'm sure it must be possible. Note his first name has the catalan form. So I'd prefer Francesc Fàbregas, or else Franciso Fábregas. Švitrigaila 11:17, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
• Comment. If the two languages use different spellings for the first name (not just different accents), then we have to choose between the two anyway. Removing the accent achieves nothing. However, the comments by Švitrigaila above suggests that this should be moved to the title with the grave accent, instead of acute, to be consistent. --Stemonitis 11:32, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
• Comment. Agree with the two users above. The form used should be that which the player himself would use. If that's not ascertainable, then Švitrigaila's theory about the first and last names agreeing sounds plausible so Francesc Fàbregas would be the most logical. SteveRwanda 18:08, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

This now seems the most obvious move. Commonly used form (like Tony Blair rather than Anthony Blair, plus a surname spelt as it should be in the region the guy comes from. I tried to move it here this morning from the clearly unsuitable Francesc "Cesc" Fàbregas but it landed up as a weird halfway house. I don't quite understand why that happened, but it needs to be changed.

• Support. The current version is obviously bugged, and I favour the Catalan accent on the first "a" (as opposed to the Spanish/Castillan one that's reversed). → Тодор Божинов / Todor Bozhinov → 17:31, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
