Talk:Cesar Montano

[edit] spelling of his name was incorrect
Cesar Montaño has a tilde over the N of his name and no accent mark on his E.
- Both are wrong! The Filipino actor's name covered by this article is Cesar Montano. There is no tilde over the n of his last name and no accent on e of his first name. --Pinay06 01:01, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Home in California
Does anyone know if Cesar has a home in California becuase i've seen him in various parts of Cal, Burlingame, L.A., San Diego, Daly City, and others I forgot. Derrty2033 06:18, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

- I am not sure, but we'll find out. --Pinay06 06:50, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Films and albums
Can the films be shortened? Wikipedia is not the IMDB. --Howard the Duck 10:35, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- What do you mean by "can the films can be shortened"? do you mean shorten the title? or do you mean "can the list of films be limited to just a few?" If yes, to which ones and how to choose? Also, isn't the encyclopedia telling a lie if some are mentioned and others are not? --Pinay (talk•email) 10:55, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Besides, these are factual information which are verifiable, which is what Wikipedia is all about. --Pinay (talk•email) 10:57, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Reset indent. Maybe instead of choosing what to include, we could copy the style of Dustin_Hoffman#Filmography? Berserkerz Crit 13:47, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well for one, the Hoffman article wasn't an FA, while Hall's is featured. And Hoffman is really old (b. 1937), will Hall was born on 1968. --Howard the Duck 14:59, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] People from...
I believe the "Category:People from..." is for residency, or where a person was born, not ethnicity. Ergo, Rich Alvarez, who was born at Yokosuka, Kanagawa gets a Category:People from Yokosuka, Kanagawa even though he's not Japanese. --Howard the Duck 09:49, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- You believe? - please give me the specific wikipedia policy that states this guideline, and I will be happy to concede. Until then, please respect my category as per my understanding of his claim as people of or from Bohol when I wrote the article. --Ate Pinay (talk•email) 10:09, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- IMHO, it also (not only!) includes direct claims of the person himself as coming from or belonging to a specific group. In this case, Cesar Montano himself has claimed to come from Bohol, which is his roots. As a matter of fact, he owns properties and business interests in his own hometown in Bohol. In addition, he makes regular visits and there are feelers that he will run for a local position. --Ate Pinay (talk•email) 10:18, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

- From - the source or beginning of something
- OF - used to indicate the place that somebody or something belongs to or is connected with

- Ergo, Cesar is a person of Bohol, not a person from Bohol. Category:Visayan people would be more accurate than Category:People from Bohol since Category:People from Bohol would give the impression that Cesar lived both at Manila and at Bohol, which is false. --Howard the Duck 14:51, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- IMHO, to me, as a pure and true-blooded Boholano, there is no difference between people of Bohol and people from Bohol. If you look in my wiki friends list, I even call our Youth Ambassadors in Bohol as adopted Boholanos. Certainly, Cesar is more than just an adopted Boholano. HE IS A BOHOLANO - rising above! If it is not acceptable to you that he be placed in BOTH categories People from Manila and People from Bohol, I don't see any reason why you would object if I place him in Category:Bohol, instead of just Category:Visayan People. I will change the category now. I hope that placing him in such category can be respected by someone I have truly respected in Tambayan Phiippines! --Ate Pinay (talk•email) 15:57, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Come on now, this is Wikipedia, not Friendster and MySpace. I came here to create and edit articles, not engage myself in a social network. With that said, it not my or your standard that matters here, heck, this is a simple definition of words. Cesar isn't from Bohol, he's "of" Bohol. Why not just create Category:Boholano people? Putting him under Category:Bohol is not a good idea either, since that'll be bad categorization. --Howard the Duck 16:12, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
