Cesare Corte

Cesare Corte (1550 - 1613) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance period, active mainly in his natal city of Genoa. He was the pupil of his father, the painter and later alchemist Valerio Corte. He was known for painting portraits. He died imprisoned for espousing protestant beliefs. In Genoa, he painted Saints Simon and Francis for Santa Maria del Carmine. He painted San Pietro di Banchi adoring the Virgin for the church of the same name.
