[edit] Discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Stargate

Hi, I saw that you responded to my question. thanks. People compltely ignored it for a long time. I already responded to you and would love to continue this disussion with you. Since i am reallly interested in the contradictions in stargate. Thanks Tobyk777 04:48, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cereal Killer

When I was planning to join Wikipedia, I wanted my name to be Cereal Killer. Nice user name. Take care. Anonymous_anonymous_Have a Nice Day 18:36, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Sorry! I know how it feels though, I am a mapper/scripter/modeler for Jedi Academy and have been frequently confused with another person using the name who also happens to map and model for JA and is also a Stargate fan. Is this you perhaps?

[edit] Uncyclopedia

Hey, I just thought that you might like to know that your userbox page has been made an example of userboxitis on Uncyclopedia here. Funny, eh? -Kevin (TALK) 22:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Hahahaha! That's fantastic! I knew I'd rise to fame someday. I did those so long ago and hardly edit Wikipedia though, due to an unfortunate error on my computer which prevents me from accessing "Wackipedia". Nevertheless, I'm still a big fan of the userboxes.

[edit] Browser Problems - SOLVED

I am unable to access "http://www.wikipedia.org" through my IE and Firefox browsers, but have no problem through AOL. I had previously posted this in the help section, but the responses did not help solve the problem and my questioned was deleted without resolution. More than likely this has to do with my IP address (70.177.182.218), since AOL uses proxies. All the other computers in my house are able to access the site with no problems, so it's unique to my particular computer.

Most likely, the question was archived (questions are archived automatically by bot) because nobody knew the answer. Try accessing http://en.wikipedia.org (which goes straight to English rather than to the multi-language gateway), http://meta.wikimedia.org (another website run by the same charity as Wikipedia), and https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/w/index.php?title=Special:Userlogin (an alternative entrance to Wikipedia that works for me and other users sometimes when the main one doesn't). I can't help much more than that; place {{helpme}} back up if you have any further questions, or if you can't figure out what happened after trying the URLs above. (There doesn't seem to be anything particularly unusual about your IP.) --ais523 08:44, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick reply and suggestions AIS523, unfortunately, none of the links you provided worked. Hopefully someone else has the answer!

When you attempt to access Wikipedia with either IE or Firefox, what is the result? Is it a 404, a timeout, connection but with a "blocked" message? I checked the IP address and it hasn't been blocked. Are you running any parental control software (netnanny, etc.) with those browsers that may have blocked Wikipedia? When you use IE or Firefox do you attempt direct connection or do you first route through an open proxy? What details can you give us to help troubleshoot? SWAdair | Talk 09:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I had written a detailed response to your questions when I thought to check my firewall again. Apparently it had been blocked but did not show the originating site as it usually does, so I didn't realize it was on there. Thanks very much for all the help, it is greatly appreciated.
