A Certified Novell Administrator (CNA) is a person that is professionally certified by Novell to administer NetWare-based based computer networks. The test fee is $125 per attempt and is administered through Thompson Prometric or Pearson VUE testing sites.

The test is 68 questions with a 90 minute time limit. A minimum score of 608 out of 800 is required to pass. Results are given immediately after completion of the exam.

After passing the test, Novell will send the candidate an official certificate of completion, an ID card with the candidates name and unique certification number as well as an order form to order more Novell products at a discount.

According to the Novell web site, a person planning to pursue the Certified Novell Administrator should have a strong knowledge of networking fundamentals before trying to earn the certification. Also Novell recommends that candidates take CompTIA's Networking+ examination beforehand, based on the belief that it would better prepare people to take the CNA exam.

Currently students earn the CNA by taking courses in either the Netware 6.x track, or the Netware 5.1 track.

By continuing on, a Novell CNA can become a Certified Novell Engineer.
