The Centro de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento em Telecomunicações (CPqD) is a Brazilian research and development institution in telecommunications. It is located in the district of Barão Geraldo in the city of Campinas, state of São Paulo, Brazil, near the State University of Campinas central campus.

Along its path, CPqD has always played a strategic role in the telecommunications sector. In the first years, it was mainly focused at the emerging technologies, researching, developing and transferring to the industry many high technology products.

Between 1976 and 1998, CPqD contributed effectively in the creation of a "national intelligence" in the telecommunications and information technology fields and, following the privatization process that took place in Brazil, CPqD became a private foundation.

With entrepreneurial spirit, CPqD strongly invests in the development of solutions that add value to its customers businesses. As a technological development center, it helps in the creation of the internal telecommunications infrastructure, placing Brazil in the global market and benefiting an entire Brazilian generation.

In 2000, CPqD started to play a stronger role in the international competitive market, settling itself in the Silicon Valley (USA), with independent operational structure from the Brazilian one, becoming one of the main convergence technology solutions providers, taking a leading position in the global scenario of technological innovations.

CPqD, focused in the future, strongly invests in the search of new businesses in other markets, such as electric power, finance, government, which comprise the multiple areas of the technological knowledge. Therefore, one of its main strategic purposes is to reach the perfect integration of its capacity to the necessities of these new markets.
