2006-2007 CPIHL Playoffs Rules

Home Team:

The home team will be the higher seeded team in all games - seeding based on regular season results, with tie breaking procedures applied, if necessary.

Playoff Rules and Policies:

1. The CPIHL Executive Committee will assign neutral teams to provide off ice and ticket taking/selling responsibilities at every game. The Home team will provide backup scorekeeper, timekeeper and gate operations (ticket sales) for all games in case of non-appearance by the assigned neutral team.

2. Ticket sales will begin no later than 30 minutes prior to scheduled face off time. If the assigned neutral team has not appeared by that time, the Home Team must begin selling tickets. If Home Team must begin ticket sales, they'll make note on ticket form when/if assigned team arrived at game.

3. Failure of the assigned team to support the games to which they are assigned will result in that team losing a portion of their share of the playoff proceeds. 4. CPIHL will provide the scorekeeper, timekeeper and gate operations (ticket sales) for championship games.

5. Games will go full time, no reduced time in third period unless the six-goal rule is in effect.

6. Ties at the end of regulation will go to 5-minute sudden death overtime.

7. Ties at the end of the 5-minute overtime will go to a shootout. The first round of the shootout will involve 5 players from each team, and if still tied after all 5 players from each team shoot, shootout will be rounds of 1 player from each team, until one team has outscored the other after each player has had the chance to shoot.

8. Each team will designate its shootout participants prior to the game, on the score sheet by placing a number 1 through 15 besides its shootout participants. Players 1 through 10 will shoot in the order indicated on the score sheet, starting will player 1. If a tie score still exists after the 10th player has taken part in the shootout, the shoot out will continue re-starting with player 1. If any player is unable to take part in the shootout through injury, penalty, or game ejection, all players immediately below will advance one position in the shootout rotation.

9. In the last 10 minutes of a playoff game or in overtime, if a player receives a 10-minute misconduct penalty, the balance of the penalty that remains unserved shall be served in the player's next scheduled playoff game. Also, the player may not participate in a shootout if the entire 10 minute misconduct has not been served. The player’s spot will be skipped and the coach will need to add another player in the 10th spot in the shootout order should it get that far in the shootout.

10. If any student/player, who is a senior, is charged with a fighting major, or a match penalty in his team's last game that he plays, the member club may be assessed up to a $200 fine, per penalized student/player. If there are 2 or more senior student/players from the same team charged with a fighting major, or match penalty in the last game, then the student/player’s club may be placed on probation for the next season. Should the same team have a similar occurrence in the probation year, then the team shall be ineligible for the playoffs in the probation year, if the incident occurs before the playoffs.
