[edit] Founding
Founded in 1939 by Archbishop Edward Howard, Central Catholic serves students of all religious faiths and is the only Archdiocesan high school in the Portland-Metropolitan area. It is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.
[edit] Student Sports
Currently, it is reputed to have the state's strongest high-school cross-country program, having won the state meets in both 2005 and 2006. The 2005 meet saw the lowest score in the history of the event. Three CCHS runners have won five consecutive individual state titles -- Galen Rupp in 2002 and 2003, Kenny Klotz in 2004 and 2005, and current junior Taylor Morgan in 2006. [1]
