[edit] History
The Central California Ballet was the Central Valley's first semi-professional dance company. It was created by Diane K. Mosier, who also founded the Lively Arts Foundation, which sponsors the CCB. Since its inception, it's two-fold purpose was to present quality dance entertainment and to provide a professional working atmosphere for the members of the company, who mainly consist of teenagers and young adults. To do so, the CCB employs professional guest artists for every performance and brings in choreographers from major and established companies to challenge and inspire its young dancers.
[edit] Repertoire
Every Year, the CCB puts on a production of their own version of E. T. A. Hoffmann's "The Nutcracker", which features a backstory featuring, the "Mouse Queen."
Company members have appeared on stage with current and former principal dancers from San Francisco Ballet, New York City Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Joffrey Ballet, and the Kirov/Mariinsky Ballet.
