Center Hill is a city in Sumter County, Florida, United States. The population was 910 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city had a population of 958. [1]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²). 4.4 km² (1.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (3.39%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 910 people, 282 households, and 212 families residing in the city. The population density was 205.5/km² (531.8/mi²). There were 319 housing units at an average density of 72.0/km² (186.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 79.89% White, 6.70% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.55% Asian, 0.77% Pacific Islander, 9.45% from other races, and 2.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 28.90% of the population.

There were 282 households out of which 42.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.4% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 20.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.20 and the average family size was 3.63.

In the city the population was spread out with 36.2% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 17.6% from 45 to 64, and 11.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 28 years. For every 100 females there were 117.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $29,830, and the median income for a family was $30,156. Males had a median income of $27,279 versus $20,500 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,546. About 19.2% of families and 26.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 40.4% of those under age 18 and 13.7% of those age 65 or over.
