[edit] SPP

I've added a section of SPP. Smogon does have a section under Koffing after all, and SPP is an extremely popular site. Moreso than just about any other Pokémon fansite on the internet (ask a Pokéfan which sites he visits, and chances are he'll say "serebii"). EllipsesBent 17:35, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

And it will be deleted, you know how many "extremely popular" sites exist? yet only a handful get a wiki entry, so when SPP becomes a popular icon like YTMND, SomethingAwful, google etc, then it won't.Sdphost 03:37, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Celebi, the Name

"It also is a variation on the Pokémon's Japanese name, Serebii."

I do not think that this should be included. All Pokémon have a Japanese name. I do not believe Celebi to be a variation on Serebii, just very simlar. --A.J. 18:43, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

I think what the editor is implying is that its name was (virtually) unchanged rather than being given a meaning like, say Magikarp (magic+carp) or whatnot. Master Thief GarrettTalk 01:44, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
Does anyone else think its name may be from the word "Celibacy", due to not having a gender? --Antoshi 15:34, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
It's an interesting idea, but it's probably not something the game designers planned. None of the legendary Pokémon have genders because they'd just not be legendary if you could have a team of 6 identical Entei by breeding them. If this reference to celibacy were to be added here, someone would have to go and add a reference to "Mewtwo" sounding slightly like "neuter". As I said, it's a nice coincidence, but very likely nothing more. --L T Dangerous 15:32, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

I'm probably wrong, but maybe it has something to do with the word celibacy? Just a hunch... J.J.Sagnella 11:42, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

As already mentioned, it's reading too much into it. All legendary Pokémon are "celibate," even Latios and Latias (which have genders). And L T Dangerous gave a good point with the "Mewtwo=Neuter" thing. They may sound similar, but that doesn't necessarily mean they ARE similar. I ring it up to a coincidence. I'm more for the "Celestial Being" possibility. MasterXiam 00:36, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

If there is any other word I can relate its name to, it's probably "c'est la vie", which means "it is the life" or something similar. I think it makes some sense since Celebi is the guardian of the forest, and therefore all life in it. --Aeon17x 14:20, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

I've counted nine possible theories in both the article and on this talk page regarding the name's origin. May I remind everyone of Wikipedia:No original research? I say we remove all name speculation unless proof from an official source can be provided.--jiy (talk) 07:45, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps the Pokemon Fire Red [Name Guide] in GameFAQs could help us out here? It lists about three possible sources for Celebi's name (including celery). By the way, nearly every Pokemon article in this site has name speculation, and not a lot of them has official sources either. --Aeon17x 17:31, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

I've got a legit Celebi on my UK Pokemon Gold cartridge. I was one of the 251 Nintendo Official Magazine contest winners, and I sent my cart into them, and they sent it back with Celebi on it. As well as the UK NOM roadshows, there were plenty of ways to get it in the UK. --Rai 17:35, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 4Ever didn't have Shadow Pokémon! They were Dark Pokémon!

Cipher uses Shadow Pokémon, Team Rocket uses Dark Pokémon. I changed the article to fix this.--XD375 21:40, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

My mistake. ^^; -- ~PinkDeoxys~ 16:11, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
That being said, it should be noted that Dark Pokémon are different from Dark-type Pokémon. -SaturnYoshi 22:16, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Just a note, but the Japanese Version of XD calls them "Dark", but the English one calls them "Shadow". Squareenix

[edit] Link 7=Linkspam?

After being reverted I noticed taht they appear on all of Wikipedia's article's. Except Link 7, so should it be removed? J.J.Sagnella 22:36, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removed trolling

I just removed this from the Celebi entry:

"celebi looks like an onion with a torso and wings. it has 2 feelers. it is dumb as all onions are dumb." Birgitsnet 12:08, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, thanks for keeping it. That was good for a laugh. --Brandon Dilbeck 03:03, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Who's up for some fried Celebi rings?? -SaturnYoshi 07:03, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The celebi time crisis

is it true that celebi is obtainable in emerald without trading, gameshark,or download? i think its false, can anyone confirm this?

here are the rumored steps to owning a celebi: type in a certain arrangement of button pressing at the title screen. if you hear the rayquaza silhoutte cry like a pidgey when you press A, you did it correctly. then go to slateports port. if you see the text of what the sailor says say the word 'serebbi' repeadtly, a vine covered boat will arrive in the port and you will be forced onboard by the sailor. you will arrive in what appears to be an all green colored glitch city of the Hoenn region called the Time-line region. go to route 128, where you meet celebi; and its in too much panic to fight. you will then arrive back in littleroot town, reliving the moment you met your starter pokemon. after that, you will arrive in present day Littleroot. go find a leaf stone. after obtaining one, go save. then redo the first steps until you are back in the Time-line regions route 128. give celebi the leaf stone. it will place it in scorched slab.(renamed Time slab in Time-line)somehow, this fixes the timeline, and celebi accepts your challenge. it is lv.77 and knows solarbeam, frenzy plant, razor leaf, and ainchentpower.

do not insult these instructions, i am unsure if they are false or not.

They are false. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 01:06, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Where is the serebii.net article

What i stasted above what haped to it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HHS.student (talkcontribs).

only very big websites get an article, wiki is supposed to be encyclopedia like not everything to have an article. Sdphost 19:06, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

it is a large website.HHS.Student

I know its a large website, i'm a member. However is not huge or relevant enough in the general culture to have a Encyclopedia-esque article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sdphost (talkcontribs).

it hade one before.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.211.83.82 (talk) 11:32, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

It was deleted per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Serebii.net (2nd nomination), as there are no sources from which to build an encyclopedic article.—M_C_Y_1008 (talk/contribs) 20:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
