Celena Schezar is a relatively minor character in the anime series The Vision of Escaflowne.

Celena was abducted from her family at the age of apprx. 5 and taken to the Zaibach empire. While in Zaibach's custody, she was kept alone in a cell with only a beastman (part dog) named Jajuka to care for her.

The sorcerers of Zaibach wanted her for fate-alteration experiments in which they hoped to take a person and totally change their destiny. The result of the experiments done on Celena was that she had her conscious memory wiped and her body changed into that of a young boy with red eyes and silver hair. This boy was named Dilandau Albatou and eventually grew up to be an army officer in charge of an elite squad of pilots called Dragon Slayers.

Due to a series of psychological traumas, Dilandau begins having flashbacks of Celena's memories, which are still buried in his mind. By the end of the series, Dilandau has reverted (more or less) permanently back into Celena, allowing her to regain her mind and body. She is reunited with her brother Allen, and presumably lives happily ever after.
