[edit] Sort order for names in categories
Thanks for fixing my article Will D. Campbell so that it sorts under C rather than W in the categories. I looked through all of the tutorials for help on this with no success. Maybe you could add a section to one of these tutorials. Ldvinso 03:41, 15 July 2006 (UTC) I can't remember the HTML to do show brackets properly, so in the following example, every place I use a single bracket, use a double bracket. To have a name show up in the right spot, for instance, Christopher Busta-Peck in the category:American artists, format it thus: [Category:American artists|Busta-Peck, Christopher] This will cause Christopher Busta-Peck to show up under the letter B. These things are case-sensitive.cbustapeck 13:21, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks from me as well. I added some categories to Eric Chester and am sorry you had to waste your time cleaning them up. David Schaich 03:50, 18 July 2006 (UTC) It's easy to see and find them when looking at lists and doesn't take that much time. cbustapeck 13:21, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Leslie Earl Simon
Hello Cbustapeck. You didn't care for the Leslie Earl Simon page. How's this? (8.16 edit. I also found a photo of him online but didn't know if it was legally available, and there was no contact info...) I would like to ask you to look at the Crane-Simplex merger discussion when you get a chance, sil vous plais.Jonathan Versen 02:38, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
If I recall correctly, I didn't have any problem with the page itself. It's not a subject that I'm terribly familiar with. I was going through various categories, fixing the category tags so that on the category pages, persons would show up listed alphabetically listed by their last names rather than their first names. I'm pretty sure that's all that I did to the Leslie Earl Simon page. cbustapeck 14:20, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Ground of Arts
Are you certain about putting The Ground of Arts in Category:1542 books? I'm don't think the exact year of publication is even known. Melchoir 20:38, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ack. I must be blind. I read it through a couple times and could have sworn it said that the first edition was published in 1542, not around 1542 as it actually says. Reverted to earlier version. cbustapeck 20:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks! Melchoir 21:09, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Linda Coffee
Hey,
- Where did you get the information you added to Linda Coffee? I haven't been able to find anything other than the basic facts of what she did. Nothing's specific. Michael 19:41, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
- It came from the subscription database Biography Resource Center, published by the Gale Group. You may be able to get access to it through your local public library. If you can't, I can figure out some way to send you the text of the entry. I'm not that motivated to update the entry myself - I just came across it while I was browsing and thought that I ought to be able to determine at least if she is living. cbustapeck 20:02, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Charles Codman Cabot
Hi! The gentleman described in the above article was active as a Superior Court judge in the 1940s, so it's unlikely he was born in 1930 (unless he was a childhood law prodigy). I reverted for now. I believe (but cannot confirm) the Pioneer Fund Cabot died circa 1973. Perhaps there has been conflation with another CCC? Jokestress 01:32, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ack! It seems I was reading the biographical information for Charles Codman Cabot, Jr., his son. I misread it. Thanks for catching that error of mine. cbustapeck 02:04, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] sneaky vandal
just a tip: in the article Edwin Drake, you reverted an annonomouse IPs contributions, which you label as vandalism, to the version before... which was also by the IP, and which had a load of stuff deleted from the article.
some vandals be sneaky like this ;-) --Dak 19:31, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Oops. I didn't see that. That's what I get for trying to keep track of new edits while I work. Thank you for pointing that out. cbustapeck 19:35, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
no worries: and thanks for reverting the vandalism. theres been alot of it over the past few hours for some reason :-( --Dak 19:51, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps it's because in many (U.S.) states, the public schools are closed for election day? cbustapeck 19:54, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cwmcarn High School
- Thanks for catching the larger extent of the vandalism. I noticed some of it and reverted, but I didn't go back far enough! K95 06:04, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Calvin Fairbank
- I don't object to your having added Calvin Fairbank to the Category:Oberlin College alumni, but please note that he did not graduate from Oberlin. My source for this is Ken Grossi, Associate Archivist, Oberlin College Archives, who responded to an inquiry I made while researching Fairbank. Fairbank seems to have been at Oberlin only a short time before he left on his mission that resulted in the liberation of Lewis Hayden and Hayden's wife and son. -- Cuppysfriend 23:48, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- It is my understanding that "alumni" refers to people who have attended a college or university, even if they did not graduate. At least that's the tone that alumni gives. cbustapeck 01:41, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] vote
Hi Fellow-WikiPedian, This thing came up: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Where Troy Once Stood. Would you like to vote? Antiphus 20:09, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out.cbustapeck 20:20, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] An Incomplete History of the art of Funerary Violin
As for the categorization, that's what they said in the NPR report that I heard. I heard the report on my way to work and decided that a book that gave a history on an entire genre of music that the author made up was really interesting and needed an article. I look forward to any updating you do to the article! Dismas|(talk) 21:30, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- I heard the report, too. I'll probably have to wait until my library gets a copy, as it is sufficiently outside my purchasing area at my library that there's no way I could justify asking them to send me a review copy. It should be a an interesting read. cbustapeck 22:10, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Enolia McMillan
Your welcome and thank you for your contributions, too. Here is my source on her cause of death: The Washington Post. I think that I can do still more work on the article. Hope to see you there, or somewhere!--MrFishGo Fish 17:20, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My watchlist has suddenly come ALIVE
due mostly to your plucking folks off of it to add to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago alumni list. This is a good thing and i'll see if i can't come up with a few that you've missed - though you seem to have been doing a pretty complete job of it. Okay, on to New Business. I am looking for a librarian who might be able to help me out, and suddenly, here you are. I have a pretty large library at home, mostly books about sculpture and architecture. Many of them are used books, library rejects etc. One of those, Modern American Sculpture with text by Dore Ashton -pub by Abrams, has had the list of plates at the back torn out, so while there are pages and pages of wonderful pictures - i can't tell who the sculptors of them are. SO, my question is, can you find a copy of this book and scan those pages for me? It could be worse, you know. 'Cause if you were a doctor i'd be asking questions about my brain tumor. Thanks. [edit] Youngstown Library edit
Thanks. Great catch.
[edit] Categorization
Thanks for helping out with the efforts to categorize uncategorized articles! Don't forget to remove the uncat template from articles once you do so, or else they'll still show up as uncategorized. But your time is much appreciated. Crystallina 11:17, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Gladly. Sometimes I leave the tag on because I feel that there are probably important categories that I just don't know but that should probably be assigned.Christopher Busta-Peck | Talk 17:10, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Funerary Violin
From my digging, I find that the book is about a completely fictitious musical phenomenon. Some have labeled it a "hoax", but some prefer to view it as humor, much like the works of P.D.Q. Bach. Feel free to remove the category as it's an odd fish indeed. Cheers, Her Pegship 17:40, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] E. M. Washington diffs
An analysis of the diffs that you reverted for E. M. Washington is now at Talk:E. M. Washington. —12.72.68.243 02:35, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Old South Church in Boston
Hi. I noticed the category 1865 architecture you added to the Old South Church article. Construction began in 1872, the building's cornerstone reads 1873. CApitol3 19:15, 29 November 2006 (UTC) Sounds good. Funny, I just walked past it at lunch and they were hanging Christmas wreaths and evergreen roping on it. CApitol3 19:45, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Belton House
I'm interested to know why you feel the architecture of Belton House exemplifies the year 1688 [1] - when the article explains why the house was old fashioned at the time of it's completion in 1688. Giano 22:08, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merry Christmas
Hi! I just want to say Merry Christmas and Kwanzaa to you! Have a nice holiday time. - Darwinek 20:08, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
