CBRN

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CBRN is used as an initialism by the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) for its 5711 military occupational specialty. School trained 5711s are known as Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense Specialists. Prior to the change, 5711s were known as Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) Defense specialists.

CBRN is also used by the UK Home Office as a civil designation for the military NBC equivalent.[1]

5700's are trained in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, which is an Army Base. There they learned several things such as different types of nerve, blister, blood and riot control agents that can be used against the military. They learn how to protect the military from these attacks. There speciality comes with training units how to don and clear M40 A1 Field Protective masks, how to correctly wear MOPP(Mission Oriented Protective Posture) IV protective clothing, and and advising commanders on CBRN attacks. Every 5700 has a secret clearence or above, because of the intel they are briefed on.
