CBF-FM-8 is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Trois-Rivières, Quebec.
Owned and operated by public broadcaster Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as part of the French-language Société Radio-Canada system, it broadcasts on 96.5 MHz using a directional antenna with an average effective radiated power of 66,700 watts and a peak effective radiated power of 100,000 watts (class C1).
The station has an ad-free news/talk format and is part of the La Première Chaîne network, which operates across Canada. Like all La Première Chaîne stations, but unlike most FM stations, it broadcasts in mono.
Despite its call sign, CBF-FM-8 is no longer a rebroadcaster of CBF-FM as it became a separate station in 2000. [1] The station has its own morning drive show ("Chez nous le matin", Monday to Friday from 6 to 9 a.m.); the rest of the programming is a simulcast of CBF-FM from Montreal.
CBF-FM-8 was originally on 100.1 MHz, and moved to 88.1 MHz in 1985. It moved to its current frequency in late 2003.
The station operates only one rebroadcaster, namely CBF-FM-19 in La Tuque, which broadcasts on 103.7 MHz using a directional antenna with an average effective radiated power of 11,300 watts and a peak effective radiated power of 25,400 watts (class B).
