[edit] History
The Cayman Islands became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council in 1997, and were promoted to associate status in 2002. [1]
They have participated in every edition of the ICC Americas Championship, finishing fourth on each occasion. Most recently they gained a surprise win over Canada in the 2006 tournament. Their fourth place finish in 2006 kept them on the path to qualification for the 2011 World Cup, earning them a place in Division Three of the ICC World Cricket League in 2007. This tournament will be played in Darwin from 27 May to 6 June.
The Cayman Islands participated in the first Stanford 20/20 knockout tournament, for which they received US$100,000. They won their first game against the Bahamas, but lost in the next round against eventual runners up Trinidad and Tobago.
