[edit] History of the Game

The two teams first played each other in 1954 and have played every year since. The 53rd Causeway (and 54th matchup, see results below) will be held on November 18, 2006 at UCD's Toomey Field, which will be the final time that stadium will host the Causeway Classic. From 2007 onwards Davis-hosted games will be held at UC Davis Stadium.

The name "Causeway Classic" began to be used in the early 1980's and is credited to former Sacramento State sports information director Mike Duncan. The word "causeway" refers to the Yolo Causeway, which is the long bridge on Interstate 80 over the Yolo Bypass that connects Davis, California and Sacramento, California.

[edit] Trophy

Since 1961, the winning team has received the Causeway Carriage, an authentic 19th century carriage, as the trophy.

I, the two schools created a trophy for all sports. In the inaugural cup in 2004-05, UCD claimed the trophy, however, SAC won the trophy in 2005-06 with a total score of 66.25-38.75.
