Just a general note, these are my standards for RFAs, myself, etc. This is pretty much what I'm aiming for before I apply for an RFA, and generally this is what I would like to see in an RFA candidate- however everyone is different, and these are in no way strict for me. I look at everyone personally. By the way, this is my standards/guidelines, not necessarily everybody elses.
[edit] A few notes-
- I'd apply for adminship with about 3000 edits and at least 1000 on the mainspace. Even though I might be ready before then (not now I'm not, but later) I would probably wait until I had this many edits, as it shows you have experience. However, edit counts don't matter too much- as I said before, everyone is different, and most people evaluate people individually- myself included.
- Usually vandalism/test edits is overlooked in about the first 100 edits, however, it's not the best look. But after these edits, if you've done good, solid editing, you'll find yourself in pretty good stead.
- Be nice. If you've been keeping a civil attitude, people will be a lot happier. Things like biting the newbies and harsh talk page messages aren't a good look.
- Generally, participating in discussions like AFDs, RFAs and others, even CFDs, where not many contributors visit, will demonstrate that you have a sound knowledge of the policies.
- In terms of the amount of time you've been on Wikipedia, I don't really look at that, as everyone's different. A few months is probably advisable, but not always.
[edit] Keep in mind
Adminship is definitely something a lot of users- including myself- work towards, but some do not want it. However, keep in mind that adminship is not a glorified title- it's a few extra tools that can have potentially damaging effects if used incorrectly. This is a lot of responsibility, an extra job, and keep in mind that the general symbol for adminship is a mop- you clean up a lot. If you become an admin, congratulations from a non-admin myself- use the tools well!
In short-
Username and Signature | Time | Edits | General notes |
---|---|---|---|
CattleGirl talk | e@ | review me! | Any amount of time, usually about 3+ months adequate, however, see notes. | Preferably about 1000 on the mainspace, however I'm not fussed, if you demonstrate a sound knowledge of Wikipedia and its policies I'm happy. | Stressing that everyone is different, and people voting on RFAs evaluate every user. |
