Tfd | Template for deletion |
Cfd | Category for deletion |
Catfd | Category and template for deletion |
Purpose
Propose a category with corresponding (same name) template for deletion. As per WP:CDP the proper way to do this is is a WP:TFD mentioning the category.
That's not obvious, the {{Tfd}} and {{Cfd}} instructions forgot to mention WP:CDP. For a strange effect of parallel deletion proposals see .
The Tfd poll linked to the Cfd and vice versa. Nevertheless the Tfd failed, but the Cfd carried. That's wrong, the template makes no sense without category.
Usage
As explained by Template:catfd. Unlike {{Tfd}} it uses {{PAGENAME}} and therefore must not be used on the included portion of the template for deletion. Where that's desirable, e.g. to put warnings on all pages with the template for deletion, use {{Tfd|TemplateName}}.
In other words you can combine {{catfd}} on the category page with any normal {{tfd}} on the template, and still use {{subst:catfd2}} for the Tfd discussion log page.
Examples
{{catfd}}
{{subst:catfd2|x7|a question of [[WP:POINT]]. ~~~~}}
Template:X7
WP:CDP
proposed for deletion: a question of WP:POINT. Omniplex 04:21, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Add {{catfd}} at the top of both Category And Template For Deletion pages. You must use <noinclude>{{catfd}}</noinclude> on the template page, see the full documentation.
- Maybe add {{subst:tfdnotice|TemplateName}} on relevant talk pages.
- At the top of Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2007 March 31 add as per WP:TFD
{{subst:catfd2|TemplateName|reason. ~~~~}} This creates a subsection:
Template:TemplateName
WP:CDP
proposed for deletion: reason. User 20:56, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
