[edit] How many?
In 1878 Miss Kate Cranston opened her first tearoom, the Crown Luncheon Room, on Argyle Street, Glasgow [...] On 16 September 1886 she opened her Ingram Street tearoom [...] She opened new tearooms in Buchanan Street in 1897 and Argyle Street in 1898, then completed her chain of four establishments with the Willow Tearooms in Sauchiehall Street, opened in 1903. [my emphasis] That would seem to make five in all, unless one of the earlier ones had been closed in the mean time.195.195.244.154 12:16, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's how the sources cited phrased it, but as noted under the Walton and Mackintosh section she acquired a smoking room somewhere, and by 1898 had expanded (and refurbished) the Argyll street operation: I've rephrased it to clarify that point. ...dave souza, talk 14:36, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
