Talk:Cat Osterman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Considering the general equality of talent at the high school level, her feat betters the Major League record for strikeouts in a game shared by Roger Clemens and Kerry Wood at 20."
This makes absolutely no sense at all. Obviously, Cat Osterman is a great pitcher and there's no denying that a 21 K perfect game is an amazing feat. However, making a comparison against MLB record (and claiming "relative" superiority) based on a very ambiguous claim such as "general equality of talent" is dubious at best.
The fact only two pitchers have stuck out 20 batters in an MLB game with 100+ years of history, while more than 10 (according to this article) pitchers have stuck out more than 30 batters in a high school softball game directly contradicts such claim of "general equality of talent" in high school softball.
I am going to edit the article so that Cat Osterman's amazing feats are presented to stand on their own with no questionable comparisons to MLB feats. Jxyama 04:28, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
