[edit] Wish

I wish most Filipinos got native surnames instead of Spanish ones —Jcdizon

Would there be fewer IMSCF cases then? —Lagalag 13:35, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes there would be fewer. I hate people with IMSCF syndrome —Jcdizon
How would they have native surnames when not many natives had surnames back then??
I believe the reason some Filipinos have IMSCF syndrome is because they are confused about their heritage because of the slave surname -Jcdizon 15:46, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Let's try to be objective here. How did you come to an assumption that it is indeed as slave surname???
I called it "slave surname" because the native Filipinos were forced to have a foreign surname Jcdizon 02:44, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
This kind of crap doesn't belong on Wikipedia talk pages. IMSCF Syndrome is nothing but a ruse by unhappy Filipinos to irritate the lives of their compatriots. Please take your personal opinion elsewhere.--75.31.208.228 05:39, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Davide

I have searched repeatedly among the surnames listed under D in the Catálogo (thanks to the fact that, despite the document’s name, the surnames are not really alphabetically arranged), and have yet not been able to find Davide among them. However, according to this page here, the Davide surname in the Philippines can be traced back to no earlier than 1849, thus it should originate in the Catálogo. So anyway, could someone help me finally locate the surname in the document? What are the series of surnames that come before and after it? Would really appreciate it. —Lagalag 15:48, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't see Davide either. I traced it to Al-Andalus putting it in there. --Chris S. 04:25, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ymbrecht

Neither have I been able to locate Ymbrecht. —Lagalag 17:09, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Anyone here here who could tell me where I can find a copy of the list of surnames included in the catalogo?

Ymbrecht is on page 139. 2nd column. 27th surname. I think. I'm not counting again. Nakakahilo. --Chris S. 04:25, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Found it, finally! Thanks. —Lagalag 12:07, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] list?

Anyone here here who could tell me where I can find a copy of the list of surnames included in the catalogo?

There are tons of surnames. It won't fit on a list. I have a copy of the catalog that a friend photocopied for me. --Chris S. 04:25, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
They’re selling copies at the Philippine National Archives for a hundred bucks. —Lagalag 12:15, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Don't they sell this one outside Metro Manila? I tried looking for one, but I couldn't
Have you tried going to one of the local university campuses? Maybe you could obtain a copy through them. I’m not sure, but I think it’s worth a try. —Lagalag 12:33, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Do we need to link IMSCF Syndrome here? --Howard the Duck 15:47, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't think so. I've removed it. Whoever put it can voice their objections here first. Berserkerz Crit 12:23, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
