  • Description: This is an oblique photograph of the Catena Mendeleev linear crater chain. This feature is located on the interior floor of the Mendeleev walled plain, on the far side of the Moon. The image was taken during the Apollo 11 mission. The crater at top center is Richards. The absence of shadows is due to the high angle of the sun.
