Catonsville Trojans

The Catonsville Trojans were a semi professional football team that played in the 1930's They played their games at the old Catonville Senior High School on Bloomsbury Avenue. Local players such as Ralph Heidelbach, Francis X. Eder, and the famous runningback Ted Meusel, set records in the Mason/Dixon Football League.
Reds Greene, a Baltimore County Police Officer, was their head coach. All of the players had day jobs. The Trojans won the M/DFL titles in 1934, 1935, and 1937. Their mascot was a Palamino horse called "Ginger". All of the players had to purchase, or make their own uniforms. In 1931, during the height of the Great Depression, the players had uniforms made from old flour sacks.
The team folded shortly before World War Two.
