Cathy Tyson

Cathy Tyson (born June 12, 1965) is a British actress.

Cathy's father was a Trinidadian barrister and her mother an English social worker. Cathy was born in Liverpool. At 17, she joined the Everyman Theatre. In 1984 she entered the RSC. Her film debut was as Simone, the elegant black prostitute in Mona Lisa (1986). She has also worked in television, including a lead role in the ITV series Band of Gold.

In 2007 Cathy joined the long-running school drama Grange Hill, as deputy headmistress Miss Gayle.

Cathy was married to Craig Charles from 1984 until their divorce in 1989.

Contrary to popular belief, Cathy Tyson is not related to actress Cicely Tyson.
