Catholic Central High School (Springfield, Ohio)

Catholic Central High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Springfield, Ohio. It is part of Springfield Catholic Schools, providing education for grades K-12. It was recently ranked as one of the Top 50 Catholic Schools in the Nation. The school is known as the Fighting Irish.

The students are taught basic courses in mathematics, religion, language arts, reading, foreign language, social studies, and types of sciences. Many courses also provide AP classes for their many advanced students. The school also offers many electives, such as scrap booking, digital photography, economics, and more.
Classes are generally small, to provide a closer relationship with the student and teacher, and well as to help students grow in their studies. Students are always given personal attention from the faculty, which helps lead to success in the classroom and the future.

The school is at 1200 E. High Street in Springfield, Ohio. At the campus site, Catholic Central students from grades 7-12 attend classes. Preschool thru 6th grade are taught at other elementary schools located throughout located Springfield and Urbana.

Athletics are a big part of life at Catholic Central. The various sports teams at the school are very successful. With so many sports to choose from, every student in the school is guaranteed to find something for them! The school is unmatchable at football, soccer, and swimming, and has an amazingly improved basketball team. Central, which is a part of the Ohio Heritage Conference (OHC) Division in sports, has been successful in almost every sport offered. The sports that students can participate in are as followed:
Fall: Cheerleading, Boys'/Girls' Cross Country, Football, Girls' Tennis, Boys'/ Girls' Golf, Boys'/Girls' Soccer, and Volleyball
Winter: Cheerleading, Boys'/Girls' Basketball, and Boys'/Girls' Swimming
Spring: Baseball, Softball, Boys' Tennis, Track, and Boys'/Girls' Lacrosse

Catholic Central Has won the State Championship in the following Sports:
- Boys Basketball – 1996
- Boys Soccer - 2001
[edit] January Term
As a semester in January, the school has "J-Term", or January Term. Students in the high school at Catholic Central, take two classes of electives in a day. The classes include physical education, Ohio Graduation Test preparation classes, robotics, art classes, and many more. Once students reach the senior level of classes, they can take independent study courses, or can study abroad to places such as Ireland and Costa Rica. The term has been nationally recognized, and in 2005, the semester helped rank Catholic Central as one of the Top 50 Catholic Schools in the Nation.
