Catherine Byrne is a stage and film actress. She has appeared in a number of plays by Irish playwright Brian Friel, including the American premiere of his Molly Sweeney (1995-1996). The play was in fact written with Byrne in mind, and for her performance in it she won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Play and an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress.
